The folks at All Things Digital have obtained a statement from Apple in regards to the explosion that occurred at Foxconn’s facilities in Chengdu China where the iPad 2 is manufactured.
Apples statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy at Foxconn’s plant in Chengdu, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families,” Apple said in a statement provided to All Things D. “We are working closely with Foxconn to understand what caused this terrible event.”
Apple’s expression of sympathy is clear, however Apple would not comment on how the explosion might impact production of the iPad 2.
Chinese authorities have confirmed that the explosion took the lives of two people and at least 16 others were injured some seriously. According to Bloomberg, Foxconn’s chairman Terry Gou was on the way to view the site of the explosion on Friday. He wanted a personal look at the damages, the efforts that will be required to recover from the explosion, and to see how he could assist the people affected by the explosion.

peace out to those who got killed, there are brighter days to those who got injured, you make so many people, happy.
Well said! Apple goodies aside, it is the people who work there, that have been killed or injured, those that will suffer from the loss of income because the plant is not functioning and they cannot work, and the families of all those people that we should think about.

To the posters above well said.
To bad others on here aren’t as progressive as you guys and instead choose to be arrogant fools and exhibit asinine attitudes with no shred of decency or compassion to their fellow man.
The only thing Apple cares about is making as much money as possible. They’re no longer any different then Asus HP or Microcrap
Apple was never any different the HP or Microsoft. They are a business, they are in it to make money. That’s the way it has always been. I love Apple products but I have no misconceptions about what Apple is and always has been, a business out to make money through technology.
So Apple is now sponsoring their own enrichment at the expense of people’s lives again. To top all this bad news of 3 deaths off, I just heard that another Chinese worker in that factory, just committed suicide. Jumped out a 3rd story window and some say he landed on a crate of iPad 2’s splattered with blood all over them. So if you get a Bloody iPhone you’ll know why! ……….should be called a Bloody iPad and iBloody Phone!!!
