iPhone 7 challenges my love for the SE

With new iPhones being released each year, I’m used to being tempted by the latest and greatest Apple device. The iPhone 7 is no different, but it’s always a tough decision whether you should upgrade your existing device for the latest model.

For the last 6 months or so, my daily driver has been the iPhone SE, and I’ve loved it. In fact, I did a whole video on why I was switching to the much smaller device from my 6 Plus.

And it’s that time again! The iPhone 7 has caught my eye and after using it for the last two weeks, it is tempting me away from my SE.

Check out my reasons in the video below.

Before getting the iPhone 7, there wasn’t a standout feature I was particularly excited for. Sure, I liked the idea of it being water resistant, the stereo speakers, the Taptic home button, and the usual camera upgrade. But all of the little tweaks and changes add up to make this my favorite iPhone to date.

[contextly_auto_sidebar] As I mentioned in the video, there’s not much of a speed difference in everyday use. Graphics heavy games do play smoother on the iPhone 7, but the SE can still handle a hell of a lot. If it was just based on speed, there would be no reason to upgrade to the 7.

But I’ve grown to love the slightly larger size, and I’m still able to use it in one palm – even with my Donald Trump-sized hands. I love the Taptic Engine being in there, creating small vibrations for tasks such as deleting emails or swiping up control centre. I love how the new camera performs in low-light conditions. I even love the removal of the headphone jack. It’s not something I used too often thanks to my Bluetooth Parrot Ziks, and I only ever use Apple’s own Earpods when I’m out and about.

I’ll be sad to see my almost-new iPhone SE go, but I know that the iPhone 7 will definitely keep me entertained – at least until these iPhone concepts become a reality.
