The official Apple Watch microsite has gained a new power this week: Now, you can check out every combination of faces, cases, and straps to get exactly the look you want.
An eagle-eyed reader tipped us off to the new feature, which has only been live since yesterday. It replaces the more basic and tedious Gallery that used to inhabit that page. And we’re glad; it was way overdue for a refresh for several reasons.
Apple announced a price drop on its debut wearables at its event on Monday. Now, they start at $299 instead of the $399+ we all dropped on ours here. And at the rate the company has been introducing new styles — they offer 22 different colors of Sport bands alone — the old gallery just wasn’t going to cut it. With all the current options, including the new Woven Nylon bands, and some people deciding to take a plunge on the new price points, it makes sense that Apple would want to make the shopping process more user-friendly.
To get there, you’ll need to go to the Apple Watch page on the company’s website. Then, you can either scroll down through the pretty animations or click on the “Personalization” link up top (it’s two over from the blue “Buy” button). After that, you just need to hit the big rectangle that says, “Explore the Interactive Gallery,” and you’re in.
Or, if that sounds like a lot of steps, you can just go there directly.
While the old gallery had you scrolling through combinations looking for the one you want, the new one gives you way more flexibility and control. It has three tabs: Cases, Bands, and Faces, and you can click back and forth between them if you want to experiment.
It’s really fun to play around with and see all the different combinations, and it’s useful even if you’re just curious about swapping in a different band on the Apple Watch you already own. And you can make sure that that pink Woven Nylon band you have your eye on won’t totally clash with your Rose Gold case.
I’ll save you some time: That combo is adorable.
Thanks to reader Sebastian Duarte for the tip.
