These two seals talk over FaceTime every day because they’re in love

FaceTime makes it easier to keep in touch with loved ones, no matter where you are. And that’s apparently true even for seals.

Here’s the adorable story. Babyface and Sija are two seals from the UK’s Cornish Seal Sanctuary, who conceived two pups together, despite the fact that Sija was on seal contraception (really). Consequently, they were split up, and Sija was sent to Sea Life Weymouth, where Sija seemed sad.

Sija’s keepers felt remorseful about the split, so they ended up setting up an iPad and arranging for Facetime sessions between Babyface and his lady love. And it seems to have worked pretty well!

“At first the seals were both unsure about approaching the iPad, but once they saw each other they nosed up to it which was really nice to see,” said one of her caretakers.

Now, Sija and Babyface can visit with each other whenever they want, with no risk of baby seals… just a bad WiFi connection.
