Crystal Baller: iPad Air gets anti-reflection coating and iPhone 6 rumors galore

Six new Apple rumors are ready to have their future read…

We get slammed 24/7 with new Apple rumors. Some are accurate, most are not. To give you a clue about what’s really coming out of Cupertino in the future, we’re busting out our rumor debunker each week to blow up the nonsense.

The iPhone 6 is nearly here and the rumor mill has ramped into overdrive with new details leaking about the iPhone 6’s True Tone flash module, rumblings that sapphire might not make the cut this year, and possibly a hint that the next iPhone won’t even be called the iPhone 6.

We’re ready to give you the full reading on what the future holds for these rumors and more, just click through the gallery to find out what the future holds.

Sapphire for the high-end

The Rumor: Only high-end iPhone 6 units will get a Sapphire display.

The Verdict: Probably. We’ve heard rumors for months that Apple is having a hard time making enough sapphire for the iPhone 6. The Wall Street Journal is the most reliable source yet to have claimed only some units will get sapphire glass. Offering one hardware feature on one iPhone model but not others would be an unprecedented move, but then again, Sapphire glass is an unbelievable material and might be worth the upgrade if you’re prone to cracking your screen.

iPhone 6 front panel leaks

The Rumor: This is the iPhone 6’s front panel.

The Verdict: Odds are likely. Feld & Volk has been this year’s most surprising source of Apple leaks, and each glimpse of the iPhone 6 they’ve given us has been gorgeous. With iPhone 6 production getting into full swing, it’s only inevitable that we’ll see more complex components leak over the next three weeks.

Reader-friendly iPad Air

The Rumor: The iPad Air 2 will come with a new anti-reflection coating.

The Verdict: Too early to tell. Production is ramping up on the next gen iPads, and while Apple could use some whiz bang features to boost sales, making it slightly easier to read the iPad outdoors probably isn’t going to be enough on its own. Limited supplies might be available at launch, but with the 2014 holiday season zooming around the corner, you can bet Apple’s going to pump out enough reader-friendly iPads to make add a few more billion to its cash piles.

Upgrading the iPhone's flash...

The Rumor: iPhone 6 will get a round True Tone flash.

The Verdict: Looks like the real deal. The True Tone flash module will also get two more LEDs which should make it a little more powerful and improve color balance. Previous case leaks have supported this rumor and we all know the iPhone needs all the help it can get with night photography.

Don't call it iPhone 6...

The Rumor: Apple told Thai officials that the next smartphone might not even be named the ‘iPhone 6.’

The Verdict: Early signs point to this happening. Apple was livid with Thai officials for revealing Apple’s plans to launch two new iPhone 6 models, but supposedly told them that a name change up might be on the way. I’d certainly be in favor of ditching the numbering system for something a little more subtle, so if Tim Cook does announce a 4.7-inch “iPhone Air” in September, I wouldn’t be surprised.

iPhone production is booming...

The Rumor: iPhone 6 production lines are ready to roll

The Verdict: You better believe it. The iPhone 6 announcement is less than 4 weeks away, which means the big iPhone 6 making machine in China needs to start churning out units as fast as possible.
