A lot of rumors are swirling that Apple plans on radically updating its MacBook Air line-up this year. Impressively, Apple is said to be readying a thinner, lighter, 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display for release later this year.
Now a new report suggests that Apple will be releasing new MacBook Airs as early as next week. Could this be the 12-inch Retina model everyone’s been anticipating? Sadly, no. We’re going to have to wait a few months yet for that.
According to a new report from MacGeneration citing reliable sources, the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air will be updated next week. Given how silent the nature of this update is, this likely means a slight spec bum, but nothing major.
It’s disappointing, but it makes sense. A new Retina MacBook Air would be showcased at an Apple event, like this year’s WWDC keynote. Until Tim Cook actually walks on stage and shows us a 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display, we’ll have to settle for more subtle updates.
