What A Curved iPhone 6 Would Look Like (And Why It Could Be Great) [Video]

Curved smartphones the likes of the LG Flex have been widely panned by reviewers as shoddy pieces of junk, yet display experts like Dr. Raymond Soneira of Displaymate tell us that we shouldn’t write them off yet: they actually increase screen readability in ambient light by improving image contrast, color accuracy, and more.

It’s not impossible, then, that Apple will one day choose to embrace curved glass in its smartphones, and if it does, the iPhone 6 would probably end up looking a lot like this gorgeous concept by designer Arthur Reis. It looks really slick, and pretty much indistinguishable from the display of current iPhones until you get up close.

Check it out after the jump. What do you think?

What benefit exactly does a curved screen offer? How will that make the user experience any better? I see it making the user experience worse not better. Just because you can make a curved screen for a mobile phone, doesn’t mean that you should. Stupid idea.

Agree. Maybe it helps with glare, like when you have to turn you phone back and forth. IDK. Not sure what to think just yet about curved.

I am absolutely worth you on this one I don’t really see the point in the making a curved screen just because you can. what is the benefits does it make the use experience better ? if the answer is no then just don’t bother.

    Attractive, just not Apple enough.

From the ergonomical point of view opposite curvature would be much better. For this shape you have to move your wrist along your finger. If you hold your hand and move only your finger, it will draw curved in shape, not curved out shape.

I think such a design would be terrible. Imagine trying to flick across the screen only to have your finger jump off as you go left to right.

    Stupid.

I hate these fanboy videos and such.
