New IFTTT App Lets You Add Location Triggers

“Glue of the Internet” service IFTTT (If This Then That) is one of the most useful services around. Now a new app from developer Visual Candy is giving users the ability to add “location” to their IFTTT recipes.

What does this mean to the uninitiated? Well, As you can probably guess, the potential applications are pretty broad. Let’s say, for instance, that you want to automatically send an email reminder to yourself when you get home — or turn on a particular connected device when you reach the office — or send your mom a DM when you get back safely from a long drive.

“We believe that combining the power of IFTTT with our strong knowledge in location-based APIs [lets] you create even more incredible recipes that allow you to do and connect awesome, useful things,” the husband and wife team behind Visual Candy (makers of previous app Uber Checkin) noted in a statement.

All in all it’s good stuff, and the kind of thing that is likely to have IFTTT-minded users figuring out every possible application under the sun.

One word of caution/warning/advisement, though: you’ll need to keep WiFi enabled at all times in order for LIFTTT to work — even when not connected to a network.
