Briefly, The Fastest Way To Turn Your Photos Into A Short Video

Briefly gets the award for most-appropriately-named app of the week. It lets you create neat little videos from your photos, and it does it really, really briefly.

The app is currently Mac-only, with an iOS version coming soon. To use it you drop a bunch of photos onto its window, pick some music, choose an output format and hit go. That’s it. Of course, Garbage In, Garbage Out and all that, so you might want to pick some decent photos. On the other hand, those 30 almost-identical snaps you took of that one thing will now make a fascinating time-lapse sequence instead of just being trashcan fodder.

I have little to no interest in video, either making it or watching it on the web. I’ll watch a move or a TV show, sure, but given ten spare minutes I’d rather read a snatch of a novel in the Kindle app or catch up with my Pocket queue. Pretty much the only time I watch a short video all the way through is when I post them on here. And even then my eyes start to cross and defocus (seriously) after a few seconds.

And no, there was no point to that last paragraph apart from moaning about something you might actually care a lot about. And if you do, then check out Briefly: it looks pretty great. For a video app anyway.
