mwc2013bug-coaBARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – Would you believe me if I told you I’m writing this post from underwater? No? Well, you win, you clever thing you, because I’m totally not. Instead, I’m perched on an ass-numbing stool in the Mobile World Congress press lounge.

But my iPad mini could totally be underwater right now, and it wouldn’t even know. Why? Because it’s sealed inside a watertight gadget bag from LokSak.

Swimming with the fishies.

The bag looks a lot like a regular ziploc bag, only it is rubberier and has a much better seal – the LokSak seal, which closes by squeezing the sides together, is good down to 60 meters (200 feet) when closed properly.

And my mini is sat inside one right now.

The new iPad-mini-sized LokSak comes in a pack of three, and will fit all kinds of other gadgets. E-ink readers are perfect, as they are both useful at the beach and susceptible to water damage. But you can also use them for guns.

Yes, guns. The piece of paper that comes in the pack tells you that you should “protect weapons/munitions from humidity in the air trapped inside prior to sealing.” They’re that tightly sealed.

As a bonus, you can keep using your iPad’s touch screen through the plastic, and sound blares from the speaker loud and clear.

The “Small Tablets & E-Readers” bag isn’t yet up on the site, but judging by the prices of similar-sized bags, you should be able to get a three-pack for way under $10.
