Even though Apple has tried to slowly wean itself from being dependent on Google Maps, YouTube, Search and other fun stuff, Google has managed to become one of the top developers for iOS.

In 2012, five of the six most-used apps in the U.S. were made by Google. Facebook just barely beat out Google Maps for the number one spot.

According to a new report from comScore, Facebook, Google Maps, Google Play, Google Search, Gmail and YouTube were the six most-used apps in the U.S., while Pandora, iTunes, Cooliris, and Yahoo! Messenger rounded out the top 10.

Apple’s decision to drop Google Maps from iOS 6 may have helped Facebook become the most popular app, as Google Maps’ usage experienced a big drop in October of 2012. Along with being the top app, Facebook also ranked #1 for mobile app engagement, and Facebook’s other app, Instagram, came in second.
