Retina Support Comes To Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 versions are now Retina display ready, and available for download via Adobe Software Update. You can also grab the update file directly from the Adobe website.

According to Gizmodo’s Jesus Diaz, the new version of Photoshop actuall knows the relative resolution of your screen, and changes things accordingly. That’s pretty slick.

Calling this a “must-have upgrade” for Macbook Pro 15 or 13-inch users, Diaz notes that icons and palette text is now ultra sharp and defined.

The Photoshop patch notes say, “The Adobe Photoshop 13.0.1 update includes many critical fixes improving security, stability and performance while also addressing a number of high priority bugs with 3D, Crop, Type, Painting, Paths, and Shapes.” No mention of Retina anything, but that’s not too surprising, now, is it?

Have you upgraded yet? Let us know in the comments below if you see a difference.

I think you were talking talking about this one (13.0.2) : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5448
Which says : “13.0.2 update enables support for new HiDPI displays on the Macintosh platform”

    :)

And, it looks great ! Editing on photoshop has become a whole new experience !

I was looking forward for this HiDPI retina patch :-)
But on “Adobe Application Manager” I cannot see any available updates, and when I download the Photoshop 13.0.2 patch from the website (eamilhat posted) it say “Update Failed – Update could not be applied” , any solution ? thx, cheers.

PS: 13.0.1 has been released months ago, 13.0.2 today.

don’t bother with this excuse for utter stupidity….the update fixes nothing and after hanging for 10 minutes and restarting Photoslop, it then requires the input of the seal number again. Adobe has become as inept as microslop. I really hate ALL technology.

Apple’s obsession with the retina isn’t going to end and with a few other competitors trying to one-up, I think this is a great thing. It’s good to know that Photoshop is smart to know relative resolutions and adjust the settings accordingly.
