One is an ugly ex-con with a face that looks like it weathered the apocalypse who is known for his gruff demeanor and insatiable appetite for ultra-violence. The other is a cuddly teddy bear of a man and co-founder of Apple.

It might seem unbelievable, but Machete star Danny Trejo and the lovable Steve Wozniak are apparently teaming up in a video game to promote Trejo’s upcoming movie, Vengeance. It’s called Vengeance: Woz With A Coz. And it looks like it’s coming to iPhone. What the heck is going on here?

Good question. We’ll let Deadline.comexplain:

Production company ITN is pulling out all the stops to promote Danny Trejo‘s upcoming film Danny Trejo’s Vengeance. In addition to the indie company releasing this month a tablet game Danny Trejo’s Vengeance: Woz With A Coz featuring Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak to promote the movie, the plan is to use the eventual release date of Trejo’s Robert Rodriguez sequel Machete Kills as a sort of marketing partner. ITN is shopping Vengeance to rival exhibitors of Machete Kills‘ Open Road Films (a venture between big U.S. circuits AMC and Regal) at a discount, pitching them to open Vengeance three weeks before the eventual release date of Machete Kills. The idea is to draft on that pic’s marketing. We’re hearing the offer is to chains like Carmike and Cinemark for an 80-20 split — well beyond the usual 50-50 or 60-40 deals made for feature films.

So far, the game hasn’t actually been announced for iOS devices properly, just for generic “tablets.” But we’re having a hard time imagining that an officially sanctioned game co-starring Steve Wozniak wouldn’t show up on a tablet created by the company he built.

Danny Trejo’s Vengeance: Woz With A Coz looks like it will be released in the next couple of weeks. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on this utterly head-scratching title.
