The Packaging For Your Next iPhone Might Transform Into A Dock

We’ve seen a number of Apple fans come up with clever docks for the iPhone by using packaging materials Apple ships products with. Taking a cue from their customers’ resourcefulness, Apple has a new patent that shows iPhone packaging that can also double as a dock after it’s been opened.

The packaging on the iPhones would come with a solid base and a removeable lid. Once the iPhone has been removed, parts of the packaging could be adjusted to provide a stand for the iPhone and room for a Lightning syncing cable underneath.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office just published the patent today even though it was filed in May of 2011. Obviously the transformer packaging dock didn’t make it into the iPhone 5’s packaging, but we’d love it if the iPhone 5S came with a similar feature.

    Looks like a 30-Pin to me…

Should incorporate a speaker amplification design to.

This just shows how broken the US Patent system is. There is clearly prior art here, yet Apple once again is awarded a Patent and will be able to sue anyone else who uses the idea. This patent SUCKS! These days I think Apple sucks, and I am really sick of their bully-boy tactics. Still, they are not getting away with this bullshit in every country, common sence is prevailing outside the USA.

To create a product design you need to have a team specialized in (believe it or not) designing! A lot of companies protect their designs because they want them to be unique and they sure have the right to do so because designers need to research possible ways to make a product reliable and beautiful, at the same time. What they come up with are design innovations.
Look at Coca Cola, the bottle design is patented. In the computer word everything is patented – font types are patented, icons are patented, layouts are patented, even pictures are patented. And it’s not only Apple that does that, every company does. So why all the hate? Samsung has some design features of they phones patented. The only difference is that nobody wants to use them.

Our iPhone cases use our exclusive “transforming” eco-friendly packaging. We beat Apple to this one. :) http://www.twigcase.com/blogs/news/6680556-our-new-packaging-is-more-than-meets-the-eye
