Change OS X’s Notification Center Background [Video How-To]

With the debut of OS X Mountain Lion, Apple brought over Notification Center from iOS. Unfortunately, they’ve still chosen to go with the now familiar dark grey linen background. Looking to change it? Well, you’re in luck, because in this video, I’ll show you how to do just that.

Honestly, I love that gray background. Simple, neutral, but not TOO simple. Eye candy. But what exactly is it supposed to look like?

Yeah, I don’t really get the whole diversion to the linen, leather, etc. I don’t think it is unattractive. People need something to complain about I suppose.

I’m hoping to find help with my issue. Do you know how to set the lock screen and home screen image using Profile Manager in Mountain Lion Server? I can already do it with Apple Configurator, but can’t figure out in Profile Manager; I don’t think the option is even available there. It wasn’t in iPhone Configuration Utility, showed up in Configurator, but seems to be gone again in Profile Manager (both Lion and mountain Lion). Any ideas where I can set it up?

First, there is no such thing as a lock screen and a home screen in Mountain Lion.

Secondly, the background for the log-in screen (not lock-screen), is not configurable.

Third, the desktop background (not home screen) is right there in the settings if you look for like two minutes.

Someone as clued out as you seem to be on these topics should totally *not* be using the profile manager or touching a server in any way shape or form. You just don’t know what you’re doing.

I’m not watching 5 mins of video to learn how to do that… I skipped to the end and the result looked horrible anyway!

What you demoed in the video was how to make Notification Center ugly… next time THINK about what image you’re going to use for a demonstration video. That image makes the text completely unreadable. And don’t give me the excuse “well it’s a demo” because that’s just BS, use an image in the demo that you’d actually use for real. Only a retard would want that image as their background.

I just wanted to share a site I ran across after watching this video. It has numerous tiled patterns. Seamless and repeating patterns. Every color imaginable. All in ready to download tile form. http://tiled-bg.blogspot.com

This really helped me man, thanks. Found a smooth rocky textured grey tile for NC, looks a lot better.
