CordLite Illuminated iPhone Cable Makes Nighttime Charging Easy [Kickstarter]
Almost nightly I scrabble around in the dark trying to find the 30-pin dock connector dangling from my desk so I can plug it onto my depleted iPad without disturbing the Lady, sleeping beside me. I say “almost” as sometimes I fall into a drunken sleep with my spectacles askew and the iPad still in my lap or – more often – the Lady refuses to sleep with me and goes to her own room.
And every time I struggle to find the plug, I wish for something like the illuminated CordLite cable.
The design is ever so simple. The cable looks just like Apple’s own dock cable, but with aluminum plates top and bottom. These plates allow the internal blinkenlights to switch on whenever you touch them – no buttons, no fuss. The lights shine onto the target iDevice and you can slip the charge/sync cable in easily.
What’s more, the price isn’t bad compared to Apple products in general. There’s just a week left on Kickstarter to pitch your $30. If you wait for the (hopefully successful) project to finish, you’ll pay a still-reasonable $35.
Or you could just wait for the iPhone 5 and its rumored new easy-to-use, slimline charging cable.
