Apple Finally Fixes How Annoying Notifications Across Multiple Devices Are In iOS 6

As a user with multiple iOS devices, I have hated iOS 5’s handling of notifications across multiple devices with my very bones. Get a notification and read it and clear it on your iPhone? It’ll still be waiting for you on your iPad and your iPod touch. Someone call the Department of Redundancy Department. It’s just irritating.

Luckily, with iOS 6, Apple seems to have figured it all out. Now, as long as it’s an iOS 6 stock app, if you read a notification on one device, it’ll be whisked off your other devices magically, presumably through iCloud. Which is an interesting point in and of itself: will Apple soon be oiffloading all of their Push Notifications to iCloud?

I noticed this behavior with iMessage in iOS 5. As soon as I read a new iMessage on my iPad, the Notification would disappear from my iPhone’s lock screen.

I don’t know if it’s iMessage specific, but for me this works already with iMessage on iOS5 and Messages on Mac Lion.

But because i have no other iOS Device, i can’t say anything aboout the syncing between several iOS Devices.

AAWWW YEAH, FINALLY, olny god knows how irritated i get when i receive lots of notifications while I’m on my mac and when i grab my iPhone there they are, all the notifications (except for iMessages), and then when i grab my iPad there they are AGAIN. I don’t even know why but, as the author of the post said, it DOES irritate

I always feel like I am receiving a WUPHF! from The Office. LOL. Ding, Ding, Ding across all my apple devices simultaneously. I will still get those but at least now I can just check one and be done.

    LOL! “For just $12.99 a month…”

Nice enhancement. However, I notice from the screenshots that the notification center on the iPad still doesn’t include weather and stocks, which is a bummer.

My wife and I have shared each others calendars through icloud.  Its very useful, although very annoying when all of her alerts go off.  Anyone know if this will solve that and let me turn of alerts for a specific calendar?

If not, will this clear her alert when I read it on one of my devices?

I wonder if Apple is going to push some of these updates to 1st gen iPad even though they are not going to get iOS 6. It would be nice if they do so. Honestly, I don’t expect Siri or other new features like FB integration on the old ipad but I expect some nice updates to make all of these devices work seamlessly.
