Remember the original Carmageddon, the violent vehicular combat game that encouraged you to mow down pedestrians in search of bonus points? Of course you do! Well, its developers, Stainless Games, have just announced that it’s coming to iOS this summer. The title will be a complete conversion of the original PC game, but it’ll boast a better game engine and better visuals, in addition to several optimizations for touch-based devices.

Stainless Games announced the title in an update on its Kickstarter page this morning:

And as a way of saying a massive Thank You to their Backers on Kickstarter.com for funding their forthcoming brand new PC title Carmageddon: Reincarnation through a successful campaign on the crowd-sourced funding site, Stainless Games will be launching the iOS version of the game FREE on the iTunes Store for the first 24 hours after launch – so that Backers and Fans can enjoy the mobile touch-screen Carmageddon experience at NO COST!

The game is a conversion of the original Carmageddon PC game, with improved game engine and graphics.

It will be a universal app playable on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and it will be offer a “wide selection” of touch control methods. It will also boast an “intuitive gesture system” that will allow player to repair and recover their vehicle in-game, an Action Reply feature that allows you to upload your finest moments to YouTube, and Game Center integration.

There’s no clear release date just yet, but you can expect to see Carmageddon this summer.
