Official Mitt Romney Photo App Can’t Spell “America”

Official Mitt Romney Photo App Can’t Spell “America”

Yes folks. I'm with Mott.

Matt Rimney’s campaign has released an official photo app with a text template that reads “A Better Amercia.” Ooops.

The app comes with a bunch of text overlays (the others, you’ll be pleased to hear, with correct spellings throughout) that you can add to photos of – well, anything you consider suitably Republican and Presidential. I’m sure you’ll come up with something.

It’s not even a very good app. The image you line up in your viewfinder gets shifted down considerably when the overlay is applied, so don’t bother with careful composition.

Oh, and take note of the terms of use: “By using this application, you may be placed on Romney for President Inc’s contact list.”

You know what to do, people of Amercia! Show Mutt Rumnoy your support! Some folks have already started.

Unless you start posting about both candidates, I don’t want to see this political tripe anywhere near this website.

Even IF you start posting about both candidates, I don’t want to see this political tripe anywhere near this website.
I don’t care if it has the word “app” in the story. Come on, man.

I couldn’t agree more with Tallest_Skil this is not a political website this is a tech website. Leave that to others, I don’t want to see or read about that here. Please stick to Tech and Mac stuff which is what I thought you did best. If you start taken sides you lose credit and this clearly is a side.

This has nothing to do with politics, if any high profile company or organisation released an app with a similar error, I have no doubt that it would be posted here on the site/blog so why should it be any different for a political candidate, regardless of which political party they belong to…

Your readers have spoken. Why hasn’t this been deleted?

Calm down folks! I can assure you this post is not intended as a political jibe of any sort. Mainly because I’m an Englishman in the UK, so I’m not in a position to support any US election candidate, no matter what their politics. And I would have written exactly the same post if the same mistake had been made by a Democrat.

I do, however, think it’s pretty funny when a candidate’s app contains such a monumental error. There’s a serious point to be made, too: how on Earth did an error like this end up live on the App Store? Think of all the people who must have been involved in the production process – the graphic designer who made the typo, the developers who built the app, the clients who approved it at Romney’s team. I find it staggering that a mistake as basic as this got past so many eyeballs without being fixed.

A presidential candidate who can’t spell “America?” He’s off my vote.

  • townNOTgown

Giles, you’ve made a schoolboy error in assuming that Americans, sorry, Amercian’s spell proper English anyway. If they can’t spell simple stuff like ‘colour’ the way it was intended, then they can hardly be blamed for rearranging the spelling of their country. Leave ‘em to it.

Not going into potilics as the US of Amercia is across the Antlantic Ocean and therefore far far away. But it is pretty funny seeing as the guy cannot spell but wants votes . I wonder if he can count?

Good for MOTT RMONEY.  AMERCIA is proud of you.  Fail.

It’s a hilarious story, and it would still be a meme is Obama had done it. Republican perpetual victimhood is exhausting to be around – and completely unwarranted.

Ha! This is hilarious! Also love to see the Romney lovers speak up. Don’t want to see your emperor without any clothes on?

  • Robert X

    Little childish?

I follow numerous apple blogs and most have (IMO, wisely) chosen not to comment on this. The gaffe is quite comical, but I concur with those who think that you should stick to all things tech/mac and keep politics at bay.

Funny.  When I first read this, I thought it was COM that made the spelling error.  You guys are the worst spellers/spell checkers in the world.  For all we know, it was you guys that designed the app for Romney.  Get off your high horse and write about things that your readers want to read.  FYI – Obama thinks the USA has 57 states…

    Obama – 57 States
    Romney – Amercia
    England – Colour

We all are retarded a little on the inside.

  • jason_burns

The letters are “Flip Flopped” just like Romney’s positions on abortion, gun rights, and health care!

Ron Paul 2012.  The ONLY consistent / honest / Constitutional candidate running for President.

Both?  Um, there are three candidates running for POTUS.
