Meet The 5-Year-Old Who’s Just Published A Book On iBookstore

John Tambunan, published iBookstore author

Say hello to John Tambunan. This five-year-old resident of Indonesia published his first book on the iBookstore a few days ago – a cute tale about catching fish.

John’s mom Jane Ross has the full story on her blog.

John likes to play at the river (with adult supervision) and in this story he tells about catching fish using a plastic cup. My son told me this story and I suggested that we make it into a book.

John and his mother used Book Creator for iPad to bring together photos, text and audio snippets and make an interactive digital book. We reviewed it back in February – it’s a great little app, and perfect for kids projects like this.

Parents planning their own youthful publishing efforts should take note of mom Jane’s warning to be patient after submitting for publication. John’s book took a month or more to get approved, which must have seemed like forever to a 5-year-old.

John’s book is free, and compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Book Creator costs five bucks from the App Store. Congratulations on getting your book published on iBookstore, John! We can’t wait to see the next one!
