The British Are Coming — And They’re Bringing AirPlay Docks With Them! [CES 2012]LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Fish and chips and Jony Ive may remain Britain’s most favorite imports among Cult staffers, but maybe Pure’s new Contour 200i Air will get close.

We didn’t get a chance to take it for a spin, but the $329, AirPlay-equipped dock’s half-moon shell was certainly pretty enough to elicit approving nods when we came across it at CES Unveiled, the show’s first showcase event for the press. The 200i includes an actual physical dock, somewhat a rarity among AirPlay speakers. There’s also an accompanying iOS app that grants access to Internet radio stations and the subscription-based Pure Music service.

Rounding out the dock’s features is a credit card-sized remote control, a digital audio input and an aux-in jack. The dock is a wee bit pricier than others in the same space, but the optical input is a nice bonus, and we haven’t heard it yet — that may make all the difference. This will probably be the first of a truckload of AirPlay docks we’ll run into here at CES. Here’s the press release for more details.
