You know who has a vacation blackout for employees in mid-October? Apple, who is ready to announce a new iPhone next week. You know who else has an employee vacation blackout for mid-October? Sprint, who — you guessed it — is widely believed to get the iPhone 5 next month.
Guess who’s following suit? Yup, AT&T. And not only are they blacking out vacations for the iPhone 5, they’ve even already got the next iPhone n their system.
BGR reports:
With reports circling that Apple’s next iPhone is due to launch on October 14th, BGR has received new information from a trusted AT&T source that seems to confirm a mid-October launch. AT&T has started to block all employee vacation requests for the first two weeks of October in order to have “all hands on deck.” Our source clarified that the dates are the first two works weeks starting on Monday, October 3rd and ending on Friday, October 14th.
In addition, BGR says that AT&T has six placeholder listings for “new products” in its internal database. Those could be anything, but are probably black and white versions of the next iPhone in two capacities, along with a single entry for a lower-capacity $99 budget iPhone 4.
