Apple has debuted two new “How to” videos online related to the Memories feature on iOS, which lets your Photos app scan through your image library for meaningful people, places and other snaps, and then presenting them in curated collections.

Developers received the second batch of beta builds today of the new software Apple unveiled earlier this month during its Worldwide Developers Conference.
Beta build 2 for iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, tvOS 11 and watchOS 4 got seeded to developers this afternoon, as well as a number of other tools and platforms that are available to download from Apple’s Developer Center.

As part of its renewed focus on original programming, Apple has hired two Sony Pictures Television presidents, Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, for positions overseeing worldwide video-related work for the company.
“Jamie and Zack are two of the most talented TV executives in the world and have been instrumental in making this the golden age of television,” said Eddy Cue, who the two new recruits will report to. “We have exciting plans in store for customers and can’t wait for them to bring their expertise to Apple — there is much more to come.”

Apple is stepping up its video game by hiring one of the key employees from YouTube that helped the service become the world’s biggest video streaming platform.
Vijay Karunamurthy, who worked at YouTube in its early years and then went on to co-found the food rating app Nom, has reportedly joined Apple, though the company is staying tight-lipped on what he’s working on.

Apple has dropped the second trailer for its latest hip-hop documentary, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story.
The documentary chronicles Sean P. Combs (a.k.a. P Diddy’s) rise to become one of the most notable record producers of the 1990s, as well as detailing the challenges he faced staging last year’s 20th anniversary Bad Boy reunion show. It will debut on Apple Music on June 25.

While Apple is busy working toward the public release of iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra, coding is still underway on the the last updates for all of Apple’s old platforms with the release of a new batch of beta updates today.

Google has hired away veteran chip architect Manu Gulati from Apple, with the goal of building its own custom chips for future Pixel phones.
Gulati has been working on chip development at Apple for almost eight years. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is now employed as Google’s lead system-on-a-chip Architect.

Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines have been the core of the company’s design philosophy ever since the Macintosh in 1978. Apple design evangelist Mike Stern gave an overview of the ever-evolving guidelines during a Wednesday session at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference.
The session, entitled “Essential Design Principles,” is one of my favorites, in large part because I’m a designer myself. I’ve distilled the essential Apple design principles he talked about in the sketchnotes above.
