A Colorado builder is incorporating iPads into new homes.
Apple’s magical device is used regulate all the electronic systems in the house — from lights, motorized blinds, entertainment systems (music, TV etc.) to baby monitors and closed-circuit cameras. The docks are built in but the iPads can be removed.
We start the first week in May with ways to protect and preserve your favorite Apple device. First up is the Superleggera PRO Dual Layer case from Acase for your iPhone 4. Next is a two-pack of screen protectors for your iPod touch. We round out things with the EZ-Carry case that both protects and props-up your tablet.
Along the way, we also check out several other items, including storage. As always, details on these and many other bargains can be found at CoM’s “Daily Deals” page right after the jump.
Kicking off this week’s roundup of must-have iOS applications is the brand new TweetDeck app for iPhone, which its creator claims has been completely re-imagined and rebuilt from the ground up to be fast, flexible, and powerful.
Fring is the popular video chat and VoIP application for iPhone and iPod touch. It deserves some recognition this week thanks to its recent update that makes it the first application for iOS to offer group video calling with support for up to four people.
Fahrenheit – or Celsius if you prefer – is a new weather application that displays the temperature in your area on your home screen. No, it doesn’t require a jailbreak: it uses the iOS application badges to display the current temperature over the application’s icon with push technology.
Find out more about the applications above and check out the rest of this week’s must-have iOS apps – including TuneIn Radio and Lamebook – after the break!
Earlier this week, I was interviewed by a Russian TV crew about Apple. They were a bit surly and aggressive, not like polished, ingratiating TV people here in the U.S.
They kept asking strange questions about Steve Jobs, as is if he were a crooked oligarch. “Vy does Steve Joybs vant to be dictator? Vy does he vant to dominate ze vorld?”
We wrap-up another week of deals with two iPod touch bargains and a zip-up leather iPad case. First is a number of iPod touch units (3rd- and 4th-generation), starting at $149 for the 8GB model. Next is a 64GB iPod touch for $270. Finally, we spotlight a deal on the Sena ZipBook leather case for the iPad.
Along the way, we also check out the TabletMac ModBook from AxioTron and the SizeUp windows re-sizing software for the Mac. As usual, details on these and many other items can be found at CoM’s “Daily Deals” page right after the jump.
Epic Games, in co-operation with Chair Entertainment, brought us Infinity Blade, one of the most graphically impressive, no-compromise game on the App Store. Infinity Blade costs $9.99, and not only is it worth every penny, but for the price, it’s graphically equal to many games on modern consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360…. and Epic sees app games as possibly killing off consoles once and for all.
Seeing the latest installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast Five, this weekend? You may want to check Fandango’s iPad app before you try to book your tickets.
A feature called “The Pulse” shows realtime ticket sales (more or less), indicating what movies are going to be hot over the weekend — and which screens will be empty.
Bad news for Fast Five fans: It looks like the movie, which opens on Friday, is going to be sold out. It’s already shaping up to be the biggest pre-sold movie of the year to date, says Fandango’s Harry Medved, who shows us how The Pulse works:
As a massive fan of first-person shooter games, I’m always looking for great iOS shooters that will help me get my fix when I’m away from a console. Thankfully, the App Store is home to some great FPS games from developers such as Gameloft, EA Games, Treyarch and Villain.
Our latest app list is a collection of the best FPS games in the App Store – check them out after the break!
Ok, so all jokes aside, it’s no secret that many of us here at CoM are fans of Leo Laporte and his immensely popular all-things-Apple show Macbreak Weekly.
Well, in a moment of questionable judgement, Leo invited me on Macbreak to talk all things Apple for two whole hours, and I humbly accepted.
If you could use a dose of live Apple news and entertaining banter tomorrow between the hours of 11am and 1pm Pacific time, please tune in: https://live.twit.tv.
We start the last week of April with three new deals. First up is an 8GB version of Apple’s current iPod nano for just $130. Next is the i.Sound Twin Charging dock for the iPod and iPhone. We wrap-up today’s spotlight with an anti-glare screen protector for your iPad 2.
