MacBook Pro Stocks Run Low: Are New Sandy Bridge, MBA-Like Models Incoming?

By

unibody-finished20081014

I’m not quite sure I’d hold your breath just yet, but a new MacBook Pro refresh might be due soon, if reports of near-empty stocks of both the 15-inch and 17-inch unibody models are anything to go by. If that refresh happens, it’s likely to be a long-overdue update from the Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs that Apple currently uses to the newest Sandy Bridge processors.

Multiple sources in both Apple Stores and third-party resellers are reporting that they are running low on supplies of Cupertino’s premium notebooks, with even Amazon listing a one to two month delay on shipping the 17-inch MBP.

Freecom’s 10mm thick USB HDD is thinnest in the world… and still does Firewire

freecom-mobile-drive-mg-hdd1.jpg

Looking for the thinnest portable hard drive around to augment your MacBook Air’s paltry SSD storage? Here you go: Freecom’s new Mobile Drive Mg isn’t just the thinnest hard drive around at 10mm thick, the high-end $199.95 750GB model not only boasts a USB 2.0 port (forwards compatible to USB 3.0, whenever Apple gets around to embracing it) but also Firewire 800. If you can live without Firewire, the $69.95 320GB model or $109.95 750GB model are probably more your speed.

Manage How You Use Your Disk Space on Any Mac [How To]

By

macbookair_new1

Apple’s new 11-inch Macbook Air with a 64Gb SSD drive is said to be very popular and flying off the shelves at Apple Stores everywhere and beyond. It represents  the smallest notebook computer that Apple makes and the default base model ships with the smallest system disk drive available in any Apple notebook. Therefore it makes sense for users to seek ways to optimize the way they use disk space on this tiny new notebook and it was the computer that inspired me to write this How-To — which actually applies to any Mac.

2011 To Be Rife With Windows 7 MacBook Air Knock-Offs By Lenovo, Asus and Acer

By

MacBook-Air

A couple weeks ago, one of my friends brought me a new MacBook Air from the States, and as he delivered it to me, he — a die-hard Windows user — eloquently endorsed Apple’s sexy new, razor thin ultraportable by noting that as far as was concerned, “using this laptop is what living in the future feels like” and that “I’ll definitely buy one, because this computer will get you laid.”

He’s not an exception: I’ve turned more Windows-loving heads with the new MacBook Air than any other laptop I’ve ever owned. It looks like makers of Windows PCs have noticed the same thing, because Acer, Asus and Lenovo are all set to ape the MacBook Air’s incredible design.

The ForeFlight app.

A private pilot is using an iPad to help stay on course, in addition to the standard navigation system.

Jeff Curl has loaded up his iPad with worldwide charts and says it helps him make better decisions in the air.

“I can see the route structure and see what kind of rate I want to file, I can also pull up my radar and see I don’t want to go straight, I’ve got a huge line of thunderstorms,” he said.
