Apple Tuesday updated its all-in-one iMacs with Intel’s Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors, confirming rumors that the Cupertino, Calif. company would completely replace the Intel Core Duo line of chips powering the desktop machines. The low-end 21.5-inch iMac now sports a 3.06GHz i3 processor for $1,199.
The mid-range 21.5-inch iMac is powered by a 3.2GHz i3 chip for $1,499, while the high-end 27-inch iMac includes a 2.93GHz Quad-Core i7 processor for $1,999.
Have you lusted after those new iMacs with the 27-inch LED screens, but already have a MacBook – or even Mac mini? Well, Apple must have heard your pleas, because Tuesday the Cupertino, Calif. company unveiled a 27-inch LED display compatible with all Macs — for just $999.
One day after Apple stock granted to four top company executives vested, the 1.1 million shares were sold during a day of record-high trading in the Cupertino, Calif. firm.
Earlier today, I was reading Infoworld’s article, The iPad questions Apple won’t answer. The first question they listed was “Can you save and transfer documents to the iPad?”, and their assumed answer was “No”; they suggested that the only way to do this would be to open a document from an email message.
I read that and I knew it wasn’t the case. I knew I’d seen something that suggested to me that the iPad has on-board storage for documents. It was something I’d seen somewhere before, and for a moment I couldn’t think where. Then I remembered.

Except Peter isn’t smoking, and he isn’t drinking. But he’s certainly got the same moxie. Sisson borrowed someone’s badge to gain entrance to an exclusive, invite-only CES event so that he could pitch a new version of his iPhone app to some of the hundreds of press in attendance. I’m glad he did, because it’s a doozie.
In an unusual move, Apple has removed 1,000 applications sold by Chinese developer Molinker from its App Store. The mass purge follows questions whether the developer had ‘gamed’ the popular iPhone online store. Along with the apps – which amounted to one percent of those sold through the App Store, ratings were also deleted.
“This developer’s apps have been removed from the App Store and their ratings no longer appear either,” Apple marketing head Phil Schiller confirmed to iPhoneography, a blog that originally asked whether a scam might have been afoot.

Sounds like we have a date for those updated iMacs and white MacBooks, eh? And it would also be a logical step given Phil Schiller crowing that Apple has the opportunity to reap huge rewards during the Windows 7 launch, which kicks off Wednesday…
Apple Vice President Phil Schiller has hinted at a new advertising campaign to counter the upcoming launch of Windows 7. Speaking about the potential upgrade hurdles a PC user might face, Shiller told BusinessWeek: “Any user that reads all those steps is probably going to freak out. If you have to go through all that, why not just buy a Mac?”
Schiller told the magazine the expected Oct. 22 launch of Microsoft’s new operating system “presents a very good opportunity” for the Cupertino, Calif. company. According to BusinessWeek, an ad campaign could poke fun at Microsoft users undergoing the upgrade.
Google says categorically that Apple has rejected its Voice app for the iPhone. Apple denies this, saying several times that the app is still under consideration. Apple has said this in official documents submitted to a government inquiry by the FCC, and most recently today in a statement to the press.

Well, the test is quite simple:
Apple has responded to Google’s charge that Phil Schiller rejected Google’s Voice app: “We do not agree,” says a spokesman.
Apple says it has NOT rejected the Google Voice app and continues to evaluate it. In a statement, Apple PR says:
“We do not agree with all of the statements made by Google in their FCC letter. Apple has not rejected the Google Voice application and we continue to discuss it with Google.”
Earlier today, Google unredacted its response to the FCC, claiming that Phil Schiller had personally killed the Google Voice app in a phone conversation in July.
Who’s lying?
As reader Steven points out below, a good test is whether Google’s app is available in the app store — which it is not. “Until the application does appear in the App Store, we can all say with 100% certainty that it has been denied,” he says.
