The latest version of Apple’s Photo Stream beta app has a new icon for “taking a photo with your iPhone”… one that appears to feature an iPhone 5 with a larger screen and elongated, capacitive home button. You know, just like all the rumors and cases have been suggesting.

Art gaffe, or can we just all take as read the look of the iPhone 5 now that icons for it are creeping into other products?

Hey, what do you know! A mere month before it is expected that Sprint will finally get an iPhone for its network to call its own, the nation’s fourth largest carrier is beefing up their early termination fees, thus guaranteeing that they will be able to milk the maximum amount of money possible from impatient switchers!

Sprint has an utterly bizarre history of announcing media events around the same time as new iPhone announcements, which — of course — immediately overshadow whatever small thing they’re trying to get journalists jazzed about. Guess who’s up to their old tricks again?

With the announcement of the iPhone 5 and a potential second model on the horizon, analysts are predicting a strong holiday season for Apple. In fact, Apple could make up to 22 million iPhone units in Q4 of 2011 alone, with the iPhone 4 oddly enough still accounting for the majority of sales.

In the news business, it’s called a non-denial denial. For the rest of us, it is just the latest indication we’re just months from having the iPhone 5 available on all major U.S. wireless carriers. Sprint is instructing employees to say “no comment” the latest Apple handset is coming to the carrier this fall.

A report from DigiTimes today dismisses rumors that Apple’s iPhone 5 will look identical to the iPhone 4, claiming it will instead have an iPod touch-like rear metal chassis with a 3.5 to 3.7-inch display.

Following those pictures of a supposed iPhone 4S frame we published earlier today, we now have photographs of what appears to be the rear casing of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5.

A new report says that when the iPhone 5 debuts in Fall, it will launch simultaneously on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. It’s about time.

More interesting? Despite the fact that over a million iPhone users are on T-Mobile already, they are doing so without 3G access, just EDGE. When the iPhone 5 comes around, that’s about to change.

This concept video by San Francisco design house Aatma Studios starts off pretty well: they envision future iPhones and iPads using a combination of a built-in pico projector and IR sensors to project a light-based keyboard on a flat surface. Just type on that projected keyboard as you would on any other and the iPhone will register your keystrokes.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Sprint will offer Apple’s iPhone come this October. Currently, the iPhone is only available on AT&T and Verizon. An AT&T/T-Mobile merger is currently in the process of being approved by the FCC, so that leaves Sprint as the lonely, iPhone-less kid in the corner.
