Best List: Helly Hansen Alpha 2.0 Jacket

This jacket delivers comfort, no matter the conditions.

They call it the “Classic Resort Jacket,” and if this means I can hit the frontside corduroy, and the backside snow bowl, and also sip hot toddies in the lodge without ever worrying about maintaining or regulating my temperature, then they nailed it.

The Helly Hansen Alpha 2.0 is loaded with all sorts of high-tech and functional features including wrist gaiters, hand-warming pockets, water-resistant zippers, a ski-pass pocket and a removable powder skirt. It’s also windproof, waterproof and breathable. Plus, it lets me look good with its clean, decidedly non-’80s design lines.

The PrimaLoft insulation helps balance my body temperature and keeps me comfortable all day, no matter what type of mountain conditions I find myself skiing in. Pair it with the Legacy Pant and I’m ready for those bluebird days.

Make no mistake, this is lot of jacket, but I wanted a single piece of apparel to keep me dry and warm all day, with features conducive to any changing weather conditions. The Alpha 2.0 is worth a closer look.

I once bought a HH jacket. Within a a few days of skiing the ‘skirt’ part zip was buggered, the lining in the right arm fell apart on the inside, and the whole thing just fitted badly. The latter I can accept, but the other issues were just so lame, and yes i could have complained and tried to get repairs etc, but frankly i just returned to getting Salomon. Bad luck probably but enough to put me off for life.
