Apple TV+ finally filled the last major role for Lisey’s Story, its upcoming show written by horror legend Stephen King. Dane DeHaan reportedly landed a leading role opposite Julianne Moore in the limited series. King wrote the psychological horror novel upon which the series is based — and is writing the script for the Apple TV+ show as well.

By now, you know that you can use multiple windows from the same app in iPadOS 13, just like you can on the Mac. And you probably also know that it’s a pain to open a new window from scratch. You have to open the app, then slide the Dock up from the bottom of the screen, then tap the app icon again, then tap the little + icon at the top right.
But did you know that there’s an easier way to open a new window in iPadOS? You can just drag an item to the edge of the screen, and drop it there to open it in a brand-new Split View window. Let’s check it out.

Apple Watch logged your workout wrong? You can still set the record straight. Photo: Graham Bower/Cult of Mac
When you finish logging a workout with Apple Watch, you can gloat over all your hard work in the Activity app on your iPhone. This provides all kinds of useful charts, maps and trends to show you how you’re doing.
But what if you logged that workout by accident? Or if you forgot to log a workout? You can’t edit Apple Watch workouts on your watch, nor in the Activity app on your iPhone. But fortunately, there is still a way to set the record straight. Here’s how to edit Apple Watch workouts.
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Huawei is outrageously flattering the iPad Pro. Photo: Huawei
No, we didn’t mix up the picture of Huawei’s new tablet with one of the iPad Pro. The two are so similar you have to look closely to see any differences.
The just-announced MatePad Pro doesn‘t run iPadOS, but is otherwise a clone of Apple’s tablet, including the clip-on keyboard and stylus.
Apple’s back with another great holiday ad. Photo: Apple
Apple’s annual holiday season ad arrived on YouTube today, just in time for it to be included in all the football games and parade footage on Thanksgiving day.
The three-minute long ad called “The Surprise” follows two young girls who travel to their grandfathers house for Christmas. Of course, there are Apple products spread throughout ad and it’s the iPad that will warm your heart the most.

A former councillor who supported Apple’s bid to build a $960 million data center in Athenry, Ireland, confirms that he was sent frightening threats about Apple’s decision to cancel the project.
Apple officially ditched its plans for a giant data center in County Galway last year. However, the threatening letters — sent to a number of politicians — demand that the data center is approved.

Apple Watch may have saved yet another life. Photo: Graham Bower/Cult of Mac
A Central Texas man says that his Apple Watch saved his life by detecting a serious heart condition.
A veterinarian by training, Dr. Ray Emerson said that, despite routinely listening to animals’ heart beats, he was caught unaware when his own heart beat registered as unusual. “The watch dinged me,” he told CBS Austin. “I looked down and it said you are in atrial fibrillation.”
Are you excited about the big 5G iPhone refresh? Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
Apple is predicting big things for its 5G iPhone, according to a new report featuring shipment forecasts Cupertino has allegedly given its supply chain partners.
The report suggests that Apple has ordered 100 million iPhones. That would be an increase over the 80 million Apple ordered for the iPhone 11 series.

Apple's new MacBook Pro keyboard won't disturb your colleagues. Photo: Apple
One of the downsides of Apple’s previous MacBook butterfly keyboard design was how loud it was. That’s something Apple has tried to rectify with its new quiet scissor switch keyboard on the MacBook Pro.
But how does its volume stack up against both the previous MacBook keyboard, and other laptops on the market? A new report from the Wall Street Journal set out to find an answer.

It's about time! Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
There’s a great Steve Jobs story that somehow seems relevant in a 2019 MacBook Pro review. You probably know it, but I’ll tell it anyway. After the iPad launch, Jobs supposedly walked into a meeting with the Mac team, carrying an iPad. He woke up the iPad, which happened instantaneously. Then he woke up a Mac, which took a while to come out of sleep. Then he asked something like, “Why doesn’t this do that?”
Today, he might take the iPad Pro, and the brand new top-of-the-line MacBook Pro, start them both editing a few images, and wait for the fans to spin up on the Mac. While it cranks up to leaf-blower levels, he’d point at the silent iPad, and make some scathing quip.
The new 16-inch MacBook Pro is an incredible computer that’s let down by the red-hot Intel chips inside. Apple’s cool, fast, super-powerful A-series ARM chips can’t come to the Mac soon enough. Using this Intel machine after using an ARM-powered iPad for several years, the Mac feels like there’s something wrong with it. And yet, barely 24 hours into owning one, I absolutely love it.
