You think you know Peter Pan’s story? Guess again, because director Joe Wright (Anna Karenina, Pride and Prejudice) has got an entirely new tale to tell.

Pan is the origin story of the boy who never grows up. He’s an orphan, left on a doorstep with a mysterious note from his mother. He’s secreted away to Neverland, where he mixes things up with Tiger Lily, Blackbeard (played by an almost unrecognizable Hugh Jackman) and a young, idealistic Captain Hook.

Check out the gorgeous trailer below for the full details.

Beautiful, right? You can see mermaids, pirate ships, the London skyline, lost boys, and much more in the quick scenes on display in this preview from Warner Bros. Pictures. We can’t wait.

Here’s hoping that the final movie, due out next Summer, will stand up to the promise of this very lovely short trailer.

This so-called Apple News Site is increasingly looking like a vehicle for unrelated product placements and ads.

To the White Knights who will reply by calling me names and saying “you don’t have to click on it” – you’re right, and I don’t have to visit this website either, thanks for the reminder. But I am entitled to my opinion, and in my opinion this once-great website has become just like 99% of ‘news’ sites and is mostly just a vehicle for ads, ads and more ads.

I’m not against ads, by the way. Ads are the currency which ‘free’ websites trade in, and how they pay the bills in the absence of a subscription model. I am against ads dressed up as news stories, and even more so when those stories have nothing to do with the supposed focus of the news site which has been used to bring readers to the website in the first place.

      100% this!

I agree with you but I see it as a necessary evil. Kind of how drug stores eventually diversified their inventory by transforming into mini-grocery stores.

I’m okay with it so long as they continue their staunch reporting and support of Apple products.

While I totally support your right to your opinion about the content of the post – I do want to point out that it is in no way a paid advertisement. It’s my job to infuse a little bit of pop culture that might be interesting to Apple fans into our regularly scheduled staunch reporting, and this post is one of those. :)

The really definitive version of Peter Pan was Season 3 of Once Upon A Time (though aspects of it required having seen seasons 1 and 2). A truly astonishing piece of storytelling.

Why is this appearing on my RSS feed for Cult of Mac? This has no relevance to Apple, or the tech industry for that matter. The writers here are using this blog as their personal Twitter feed.
