Apple revealed Tuesday that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference will kick off with a keynote on June 9. Apple traditionally uses WWDC to show off the next major upgrades for iOS, macOS and its other operating systems. WWDC25, which will run from June 9 to June 13, will be no different.

“We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We can’t wait to share the latest tools and technologies that will empower developers and help them continue to innovate.”

Apple WWDC25 dates scheduled for June 9

Apple developer conferences always begin with a keynote address during which CEO Tim Cook, software chief Craig Federighi and other executives take to the stage of Apple Park‘s Steve Jobs Theater to give the world their first glimpse of future products. For WWDC25, rumors point to a redesign for iOS 19, macOS 16 and iPadOS 19 that could be a highlight of the keynote. Expect watchOS 12, tvOS 19 and visionOS 3 to get some attention, too.

Apple Intelligence and artificial intelligence in general will surely come up.  Many will be watching to see what  Apple has to say about the AI-enhanced version of the company’s voice assistant, Siri. Apple previewed the upgraded Siri at WWDC24, but recently admitted the project remains far from finished.

The focus of the much-watched WWDC25 keynote is supposed to be software, but new Macs sometimes appear. A Mac Pro upgraded with a faster M4 chip has been rumored to launch around this time, for example.

For non-developers, new OS versions and other software get unveiled at WWDC but don’t reach users until later. iOS 19, macOS 16, etc., aren‘t expected until autumn. Still, beta testing is likely to begin during the conference.

Online … mostly

In the past, Apple held the keynote and the entire conference in person. But the COVID-19 pandemic changed that in 2020, and Apple is sticking with the (mostly) online format it’s used in recent years.

Most of the WWDC25 sessions will take place online only. Anyone can watch throughout the week via the Apple Developer app, the Apple Developer website and the Apple Developer YouTube channel.

That said, developers and students have the opportunity to attend a special event at Apple Park on June 9. A lucky few will be invited to watch the keynote and Platforms State of the Union from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. They will meet with Apple experts one-on-one and in group labs, and take part in special activities. Apply to join the group on Apple’s website.

It costs nothing for registered developers to access the online version of WWDC25.
