The media is constantly comparing Apple’s incredible bottom line to other companies and industries. At one point, it was said that Apple was worth more than the entirety of the U.S. government. Apple’s market cap recently reached a staggering $370 billion, and things don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
We all have a pretty good understanding of what Apple is larger than. But who has less market cap than the moneybags in Cupertino?

This Apple infographic examines the comparison of Apple’s impressive $370 billion market cap to other industries and valuations.

Except, perhaps, by a crazed looney in a white wrap-around jacket, no one ever said, “Apple was worth more than the entirety of the U.S. government.”
At one point during the debt ceiling crisis, Apple had more cash on hand than did the US government. That is what was said.
Also, most of the graphics are comparing Apple’s market cap with the annual income of other industries. Apple’s annual income is something around $45 billion or so, much smaller than much of the data presented. Conversely, those industries have vastly larger market caps.
I believe Apple reported $108 billion for annual revenue. The median forecast for FY2012 is $138.8 billion, with a range between $124.7 billion and $150.1 billion.
Could be. I went for the last, fully-reported fiscal year. In any case, both numbers are considerably smaller and completely different from Apple’s market cap.
apple’s market cap is bigger than revenues of different industries. Gotcha. how about the market caps of those industries.
