A major visionOS update in April will add Apple Intelligence to the Vision Pro. It will reportedly also introduce an updated guest mode and a new spatial content app.
Apple will roll out these features with visionOS 2.4 in April. The beta will drop as early as the week beginning February 16th.
Apple Intelligence is coming to Vision Pro
Apple’s AI features have had a rocky rollout. After being showcased at WWDC24, Apple Intelligence debuted in late October with iOS 18.1. But Apple only released some of the features, with the iOS 18.2 update in December introducing more. Even then, Apple’s AI features are not as impressive as those from other tech giants.
Still, this does not justify Apple Intelligence missing from the company’s $3,500 mixed-reality headset. The Vision Pro packs an M2 chip with 16GB of system memory, so it has enough horsepower to run the AI features.
A Bloomberg report details that Apple will bring its AI suite of features to the Vision Pro with visionOS 2.4 in April. But you may not have to wait that long. The first beta of the OS will arrive later this week.
Apple Intelligence on the Vision Pro will bring the same features as seen on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac: Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Image Playground. None of these features will drastically change how you use the mixed-reality headset or significantly enhance its functionality. However, they mark Apple’s first step in expanding its AI capabilities beyond the iPhone and Mac lineup.
New app to view spatial content
visionOS 2.4 will reportedly add a new app to view spatial content on the Vision Pro from other sources.
The upcoming update will also revamp Guest Mode, giving you full control over the guest onboarding process directly from your iPhone. Currently, you can only manage guest access to apps from the headset itself. visionOS 2.4 will enable you to configure everything from your iPhone.
