Apple may soon release a lighter, thinner version of its Vision Pro headset that may go by the name of “Vision Air,” according to multiple leaks Wednesday and Thursday from a semi-reliable source. The new device would represent a significant redesign focused on weight reduction while potentially offering a more affordable alternative to the $3,500 Vision Pro. And it might come in a bluish-black color rather than Vision Pro’s silver.
Upcoming Vision ‘Air’ headset sheds weight and cost
The upcoming headset, possibly called simply Apple Vision or perhaps Vision Air, will feature titanium components in strategic areas to reduce the device’s weight, according to information shared by prototype collector and leaker Kosutami on X (@Kosutami_Ito).
While the exterior might still use aluminum for much of its construction, titanium will form internal structures, connectors and the battery enclosure. The leaks seem to align with expectations from recent reports that Apple will address weight and cost concerns about the Vision Pro with a second headset.
“Our next friend in the Vision lineup is so thin, features titanium to reduce weight, including the connectors and the battery,” Kosutami said.
New ‘midnight black’ color option
Our next friend in the Vision lineup is so thin, features titanium to reduce weight, including the connectors and the battery, and all comes with iPhone 5-era black- which looks like graphite dark blue. And be noted: this might not called as —Pro but you can Air it out.

Perhaps most visibly different from the current silver-only Vision Pro, the new model appears to feature what Kosutami describes as a “midnight black like surface” with a graphite dark blue appearance reminiscent of the iPhone 5.
Images shared by Kosutami show what appears to be a redesigned power cable for the Vision Air headset, featuring an anodized aluminum connector in Apple’s distinctive Midnight finish. The connector appears to be similar to the one used in the Vision Pro but with some notable differences, including having only eight pins instead of twelve, suggesting a more significant redesign of the external battery.

The new leaks about a Vision Air headset align with recent reporting from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. He says Apple is developing two new Vision headsets — one focused on being lighter and more affordable, and another designed to connect to Mac computers.
If the “Air” naming scheme proves accurate, it would follow Apple’s traditional product strategy of offering a lighter, more accessible alternative to its “Pro” devices. This could help broaden the appeal of Apple’s spatial computing platform, which currently starts at $3,499 with Vision Pro.
Late 2025 or early 2026 release for Apple Vision Air headset?

While no timeframe was specified in the leaks, previous reports have suggested that Apple is targeting a release window between fall 2025 and spring 2026 for its next Vision headset.
Kosutami previously provided accurate leaks about Apple products, including the first reveal of Apple’s transition from leather to FineWoven watch bands in 2023. The leaker also shared accurate information about the iPhone 16 Pro’s thermal design. But Kosutami’s overall track record remains mixed. Hopefully, these leaks about a Vision Air headset that sheds weight and cost will prove accurate.
