MacBook Air owners patiently waiting for Apple to come out with a touchscreen laptop can now take matters into their own hands: A new product called AirBar turns the laptop’s display into a touchscreen.
Neonode, the company that created AirBar, unveiled the new sensor — which is specifically designed for the 13-inch MacBook Air — at CES, the world’s largest electronic show taking place in Las Vegas this week.

The sleek AirBar attaches to the bottom of the MacBook Air display magnetically and blends in with the notebook’s design. It’s super-easy to use — you don’t even need to install any extra software. Just plug it into the Air’s USB port to instantly activate the AirBar’s touch and gesture controls.
The small bar emits an invisible light field over the display. With the built-in sensors, it can detect touch from fingers or other objects like a paintbrush.
AirBar is also available for 15-inch PC laptops retails for $69. The price for the MacBook Air has been set at $99. Neonode says units will be available for order within the first half of 2017.
