Shameless.
This isn’t exactly news. Everyone has known for the past few years that Gameloft rips off console games. They’re even starting to copy other iOS games.
Who cares they are great games
Exactly. As I said above, I’m “personally a big fan” of Gameloft’s approach. If Gameloft didn’t do it, someone else would, and the games probably wouldn’t be half as good.
We didn’t say it was news. It’s a gallery, not a breaking news item. We just thought it would be interesting to put all the images side by side.
Quite so, but it should be telling the big name developers that Gameloft is apeing that a market exits and is so ravinous for this stuff that the consumer doesn’t care about brand loyalty. To the point that they are ignoring at the jeopardy of their bottomline. Then again I dont expect Activision or Microsoft games division to grasp this.
I don’t see much similarity at all here, at least it’s far from obvious based on the screenshots. Â
One thing I can confirm is that Chaos online is an awful, stupid game. Â Never having played WoW, I’m not sure if it’s a bad copy of it, or if Wow itself is just as stupid and awful.
It is really just a bad copy of WoW. It lacks everything that makes the game great, the atmosphere and the soul, as usual with their games. They take the look, and what you get is an empty, lifeless shell of what the original is.I agree, the screenshots don’t do a good job, but if you’d know these games, you’d see how big of a rip off they are. Its not even “inspired by X”, like say, people say that Saints Row is a GTA rip off. Its a plain and simple complete rip off, down to the colors, the look of things in game, the characters, the look of character art, the HUD etc. It pretty much makes it look as similar as possible on purpose, there is no hiding there. For example Nova even has the same characters, just renamed. The distinct looking blue hologram lady that talks to you on your HUD in Halo, shes there too, just not called Cortana. You fight against the same enemies, just slightly changed. The planets look the same, the main character looks almost the same with just the helmet style changed from the well known Masterchief look.I’m really done with Gameloft games. It always feels like you get a cold, stripped down clone shell of the original with no love or care.Â
Yeah problem is just that the images don’t do a good job at all. There are way better ways of showing how similar they look, for example with Nova/Halo or Modern Warfare etc. The screenshots don’t even show the similar level or the pose of the character although they are def. to be seen in the games. Would be better if you’d have taken the pictures yourself to show the match. But yeah.
It’s horrible for them to rip off other’s idea but it’s their faults not to release an iOS version to satifiy the needs of gamers.
love these guys, its wrong to rip off games, but they rip them off ina very tributary manner
dont forget GT Racing vs Gran Turismo
FInally, thanks for saying that. I was wondering if I was the only one feeling that way. The debate is always about whether Gameloft is right copying those games, but no one so far pointed out that they only bolt together soulless, empty shells of great games to make a quick buck. I have no idea how on earth could they receive any praise for that. They don’t bring great games to iOS, they bring bad, cheap versions of great games and that alone should bring the gaming community to a state of outrage. Well, the discerning part of it anyway.
Well there is a demographic you don’t want to appeal to. You don’t want to put the extra effort into a game to make it truly great for those who cannot tell the difference.
