The iPhone 5 Is Already In Carrier Testing, Could Debut In Just A Few Weeks

By

We’ve heard this one before, way back in June, but now the Guardian’s saying that the iPhone 5 is now really, honestly and truly being tested by carriers… and they’ve got a Mission Impossible style description of the procedures Apple is using to keep the iPhone 5 safe to prove it!

Says The Guardian:

My carrier sources tell me that the boxes in which the new iPhone hardware is encased have been transported to carriers for testing. This is an important step in the release cycle for any phone. … The next iPhones go for their testing inside locked and sealed boxes so that the carriers can carry out checks on their network compatibility in their labs. It’s very high security, as you could guess; my understanding is that barely anyone inside the carriers gets to open those boxes, and even when they do the hardware is encased in a dummy body which means there’s no clue to what the actual phone will do.

According to this report, Apple only ramps up carrier testing a few weeks ahead of an announcement, so this would place the iPhone 5 for debut as early as September. If so, this should be a pretty interesting month, culminating in an invitation to an event. Whee!

Use of dummy bodies is what kept the whole antennagate issue from being caught during testing with the iPhone 4, IIRC…

Oh wow, you sure showed Apple!

I’ve just got a rebuttal from their PR people: “like um hi wud u shut up!! gewgel r lyk gay and shit fuk u!!!!”

  15. Sgt_Pepper says:

Fact: There is no iPhone 5. They don’t plan to release one – rumours to the contrary have been put out by Phil Schiller and his underlings to distract the press from Apple’s real plan.

They’re going to liquidate all of their assets, buy the US Government’s debt, then sell it back to them when they get back into debt (I give it a month). Then, with the Feds now in debt to Apple, they offer to write off the debt in exchange for a remapping of voting districts which would move all voting districts in California to a small area in Cupertino. With this in place, Steve Jobs could then become Governor of California by “encouraging” all employees to vote for him, and impose heavy taxes on all their competitors to run them out of business – giving the proceeds directly to Apple, which will then be listed as a charity.

Now the only tech company in Silicon Valley, Apple will be free to release their next product: the iPad Air – it’s the same size as a smartphone and fits right in your pocket. It will be subsidised by funds allocated by Governor Jobs, so that it undercuts even the cheapest Nokia dumbphone. It will cost around $1 off-contract, or $0.99 upfront and $17,000 a month for 48 months if you get it on contract with Verizon or AT&T.

With all this going on, I’m sure you can understand why the new product is delayed! Expect the iPad Air in late October; that’s how long this will take.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://to.ly/aRG4

The usual idea is that you would use NFC to set up the link between the two devices and then do an automatic hand over to a different protocol for doing the actual transfer of data – eg Bluetooth, iphone 5
