Those weirdo Taiwanese animators are back, and this time they’re covering the Google-Motorola deal, complete with Steve Jobs in a Darth Vader helmet, swinging a lightsaber at an Android robot.
I love these guys. I’m rooting against Google as much as any Apple fan, but what universe could they possibly be described as a “one-trick pony?” The bizarro Taiwanese one where you call them that just to animate Sergey Brin and Larry Page galloping on a badly rendered horse, apparently.

I seriously doubt Jobs and company are freaking out over this deal. Gruber, as usual, explains why… http://daringfireball.net/2011…

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU
Hm.
I think it (really) puts Apple into a tight spot.
If people are not aware, Motorola and Nokia (quite literally) founded cell phones.  Basically all the basic everyday cellular use can be credited to Motorola and Nokia.  And, both have like the largest patent portfolios on cellular technology. And apparently Motorola has the largest patent portfolio on cellular technology.
What does this mean?Well, Nokia partner up with Microsoft and Motorola was bought out buy Google.  So, basically every patent dealing with basic, everyday cellular technology that ALL phones have, are in the hands of Microsoft and Google.
To make matters worse, LG and Samsung BOTH have huge patent portfolios AND if Apple starts going after those two, well, they don’t have to face LG or Samsung patent portfolios BUT Google’s massive patent portfolio as well.  And basically if Apple (or Microsoft) sue any Android handset maker, well they will end up having to face Google.
It’s very easy to go off on a little story that Google realized they need to have a hardware company to make phones. (which really doesn’t make sense, since, literally, all pure android devices (basically nexus devices) are a joint operation of the hardware company and Google.  Basically, they design the phone together.)  Or what ever else story people like making up about this.Basically, to sum up what happened. The change of ownership went from Motorola Mobility (I believe?) to Google.  Motorola will run independent from Google, just how it is now. What just happened what that Motorola (mobility) does not own the company, but Google does now.The primary reason why Google bought (or had to buy Motorola) was because of patents.  Basically, Microsoft and Apple would literally team up and try to squash Android manufacturers.
Only problem?
It could backfire big time, now.  It has been floating around the web, that Microsoft and Apple both may force android manufacturer into patent licenses that could basically be up to $50 per each android phone.
Now?  The tide had shifted. And mainly in the Google world. First, Google will defend android handset makers, so the smaller/newer companies that do not have near the amount of patents of bigger/older companies will have someone who will help and defend them. And with the 25,000 or so patents the Google just bought up, it helps them even more. Secondly you have Android handset makers who have large patent portfolios themselves. (Samsung and LG are good examples here)  These companies may be a challenge in the first place, and the challenge just got harder because basically 25,000+ patents just dropped on those companies as well.  So, basically if Apple or Microsoft want to force one of these companies into patent licenses fees, they will end up having to face, Google.  And that won’t be pretty.
So what about Apple?  You could have said that Google was the underdog in the patent world.  behind Apple and Microsoft in the amount of patents.  Not near the amount of patents like Apple or Microsoft But the tides have changed.  Basically, Google and Microsoft are the top dogs and Apple has became the underdog.  Meaning?  Well first of all, patents against android handset makers are probably going to drop significantly, because Apple and Microsoft will be thinking twice before suing an android handset maker because now they don’t have to face Google, but Motorola’s 25,000+ patents as well.  Secondly, Microsoft may change their aim from Google to Apple, because lawsuits against them (from Nokia) have been successful. (Remember, Nokia and Motorola are the founders of cell phones)  And this really doesn’t effect other companies, with basic cellular technologies, because they are already paying Nokia and/or Motorola for the technology, since majority of non-iPhone handset makers have been making dumb phones for ages. (Theoretically) that $50 patent license fees that basically every android phone could have gotten could shift towards the iPhone.  To make matter’s worse, The large android handset makers could even add additional fee’s to it. The point being, Microsoft and Google could quite possibly force Apple to pay $50 per iphone to them, if not even greater.
So, would Steve Jobs be freaking about Google buying Motorola?  Probably.  Especially if Google and Microsoft wanted to team up together and crush Apple out (phone wise), like what Microsoft and Apple were planning to do with Android.First, Android is the largest mobile OS in the phone world. Secondly, Nokia (apparently) SALE WISE (not smartphone shipments) is still in the #1 position.  Apparently Apple shipped more smartphones than Nokia BUT apparently Nokia has sold more smartphones than Apple.  Meaning, once Nokia goes all out with Windows Phones, Microsoft could (easily) be selling more handsets than Apple is.  Which would put Windows Phone OS in second place after Android.  And with the patent portfolios both companies have (or will have) its going to be difficult to unseat them. So, Steve Jobs freaking out and Apple in a tight spot?  Most like yes to both.  With Google buying up Motorola, is has strengthen Google and will make it close to impossible for Apple and Microsoft to destroy Android.  So, the target will most likely change, and probably won’t be good for Apple.Â

“what universe could they possibly be described as a “one-trick pony?”
How could you not call Google a one trick pony? Their biggest achievement is content and Ad revenue. They are a Ad company, not even a search engine company. They use search, social network, Android, Gmail and every company they bought to increase the going rate of the ads they sell. They are about content and services only as a means to get eyeballs to sell to their customers, the advertisers.
I just p a i d $21.87 for an i P a d 2-64GB and my boyfriend loves his Panasonîc Lumîx GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS.I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy.
Here is the website we use to get it all from,
