Samsung just launched its new Samsung Galaxy Tab advert, and in addition to blatantly mocking the iPad for its lack of Flash support, it also concludes by claiming the device to be better at web videos, multitasking, and gaming.
It also has a better screen, apparently, but there’s no mention of its “fragmented” operating system. Despite being better than its rivals, however, it look remarkably similar at first glance.

Though I disagree with its claims, I’m strangely fond of Samsung’s new advert. The music’s catchy, it’s rather humorous, and it demonstrates how incredibly simple it can be to get your cat out of a tree with a picture of a fish on your tablet.

The lack of flash support on iPads is a real pain. Wish Apple would get over their aversion and sort it out.
I actually laughed at that, i wish the iPad had flash or at least the choice to have it
I have had an iPad for over a year now, and never once missed flash. closest I have gotten is annoyed with a few corporations for doing their websites in only flash, but thats few and far between for me
Judging by the iPads sales not a whole lot of people care :p
Actually been quite a while since I ran in to a missing flash object now…
I wonder, was that the best way to present flash they could think of? That looked like the last kind of data anyone woould ever bother to create a flash object to display :p
Flash is one more reason NOT to buy this pos. Another Apple wannabe.
it’s actually adobe who won’t create a decent version of flash.
Who care about Flash? It is HTML5 era. Oh ya… those people queue for buying iPad already know iPad not support flash. The consumers don’t care about it. Some more the result is the answer, the people like iPad more than any Android tablet.
if you think u need Flash then just buy Android. Why so care about it? Apple didn’t point the gun on your head force you to buy the device without flash. The people don’t care about Flash, it is HTML5 era.
Those who are trying to keep Flash alive remind me of those who wanted to keep their rotary dialing phones.
And they are mostly dead now.
Haha, love the way how company do adverts now a days…
No Flash??? Do they mean no p**n…lol
Better screen, multitasking etc… compare to??? If its to the old Samsung tab than I would agree. Had 1 of those and it was so bad that I sold it after 2 months….
Also, I think the reason Apple choose not to use flash its becasue its not stable enough for mobile devices. Use to have an Android phone and I dont think flash ever ran well on it.
Funny how the commercial shows that you can just go to the store and buy a Tab. Guess there is no long line for these things. Oh wait, does that mean that the iPad is more popular? HHmmmm.
You keep telling yourself that.
Perhaps one day a fairy might make it true.
Flash does not even run well on my MacBook Pro.. it is a pain..
It’s like Samsung crowing “HAHA!! We have parallel and serial ports and iPad doesn’t! We rule!”
i agree with you. flash drain more battery
is it honeycomb?
I know im supposed to be like “ios ftw” but Honeycomb is very attractive seeing as you now only are required 1 button on a tablet (the on button). Also, is it less expensive? The ipad 2 wasnt really what i was hoping for and I might want an alternative.
I would like to see that company that makes flash-animations to show business reports. Thats a real time waster…
And better gaming, the rest I can at least understand but gaming?
If you owned a bicycle, and the chain you had on it was light, never came loose, and easy to replace. Would you replace it with one that’s bulky, doesn’t work that often, tangles easily, and can’t stand high workloads? I don’t think so… I run ClickToFlash on my MacBook JUST so it will run faster. Flash websites really do make your computer very slow. It’s very simple, I don’t understand why you keep crying about it wanting to work. Go get a Droid, do it. We don’t give a crap.

How is it a real pain to you? If Flash is that important, that the majority of websites that you visit are Flash based, then obviously iPad is not the tablet for you. You know what would be a really pain? Having to constantly update my iPad’s OS because of patches for Flash. Go watch the interview with Flash CEO and Walt Mosberg, Flash is not even a good experience on Android devices and it’s a known fact. Thanks, but no thanks keep Flash off.
If your company publishes quarterly projections in flash format it’s about time to take a good hard look at your IT/Publishing department.
I wish I could have recorded this, Flash crashed for me when I tried to watch the video.
In fairness, its the first time it’s happened in weeks.
Wow! That means you can play lots of Zynga games on your Galaxy Tab! Really useful!
Absolutely no one will be waiting on line to buy the Galaxy Tab. Most consumers don’t want to be stuck using some Honeycomb beta OS or downloading poorly-built apps and malware from the Android Marketplace. The biggest difference between the iPad and the Tab is that the Tab runs Flash. Unfortunately for Samsung, every Android tablet runs Flash so the Tab will be nothing special. Is the internet trying to transition to HTML5 or not? If it is, then Flash should be considered a dying delivery system and by using it, then they’re merely trying to hold on to the past.
i tested an android phone the other day for the first time
and its not bad, its not bad at all!
Although it could use better GUI design, something i can say the same for iOS and Itunes store
but in the end, i still have no reason to leave the flock and buy an android
why not buy iphone like all the rest?
i am betting tablets are same story
Excuse you sir- Honeycomb is not a beta OS
I’ve not seen a flash cube in quite sometime myself, at least 9 months
My wife has a Galaxy Tab (OG 7″) and we argue all the time about that but funny how she has started using my iPad more and more….
I’m actually very happy iOS devices don’t allow Flash. I love the fact we don’t have to put up with garbage on our devices. The people crying about lack of Flash are the same type of people who cried when Apple killed the floppy. “Oh no what are we going to do now without floppy disks!?? It’s the end of the world!”. No it isn’t you dickheads, move with the times and stop hanging onto inferior old shit.
Well I will confess that this is the first competing tablet that might have made it a difficult decision which one to purchase, had they got it to market a couple of months earlier. I do however find it a little bit comical that what is arguably the best of the Android bunch at the moment has turned up with some of the same limitations that the iPad often gets slated for. Two of which are the proprietary docking connector and no SD card slot or USB port. Still, does look nice though. I’d still have reservations about the ecosystem and app availability but I would have been tempted. Too late now Samsung.
I do give props to Samsung for having a go and sticking in there, it’s like cheering on a “special” kid in a football game. You know he won’t score but at least he’s having a go. “Go on kid, just have fun, don’t let those big talented kids who know what they’re doing and score goal after goal get you down, winning isn’t everything!”
I think other manufacturers make far too much of Flash support. Quite frankly, I barely miss it at all. The way that it is front and centre in their advertising campaigns, one could be forgiven for thinking they have nothing else to offer. Almost certainly not true for many but it does my perception of them no favours.
3.0 maybe, at least based on demo units I have played with. I have had a Xoom lock up on me and a Transformer display a message saying an app had closed (Facebook I think, I don’t remember for sure). In addition to being a bit laggy moving between home screens, they are o for 2 at setting a good first impression.
I am curious how much 3.1 has polished it though.
Well lets see. Flash isn’t really used that much anymore. Particularly by businesses that want to ensure global access without all the secure issues that Flash keeps having.
And then there’s the issue that Apple being Apple they will win that trade dress suit and Samsung will have to pull the Tab from the shelves if they are even allowed to release it so they can redo the UI to be less iOSy. ANd all those folks that would have perhaps gotten a Tab will have to decide between nothing and ordering ipads. And a fair bunch will decide to order the ipad.
(oh and that bit with the cat was lame. Especially when he just sat there like ‘chick, I know that’s not a real fish’)
Well you do know the real reason Apple doesn’t want Flash on their stuff, especially the iPad.
Because 99% of Flash using sites are porn sites. And they have to keep porn off the iPad cause liquid damage isn’t covered under Apple Care.
Funny thing. All the major money making Zynga games jumped to make iOS apps when they heard there was no Flash support.
Same for Hulu, Netflix etc. Lack of Flash hasn’t bugged them. They got over it and did what they had to do. And they are some of the top downloads for iOS
Yeah, it really sucks that Apple has an aversion to crappy software that is constantly exposed for yet more security issues. And still doesn’t work with a snot on any mobile OS
Yep. if Adobe could manage to create a truly working version of Flash for any mobile device, Jobs would have less of an argument.
if only samsung ruled the world lol.
Just download cloud browse.
flash decent run well on chrome on win 7 or Firefox 4 as for IE I dont know I dumped that piece of shit years ago
Try out ClickToPlugin.
