After unveiling its Galaxy S25 lineup Wednesday during its Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung pulled a “one more thing” to tease its iPhone 17 Air competitor: the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Although the company didn’t disclose the phone’s exact thickness, it showcased the S25 Edge’s thinness by putting it alongside its Galaxy siblings.
Galaxy S25 Edge is still months away from launch
Rumors point to Apple launching a super-slim device, possibly called the iPhone 17 Air, later this year. The phone will stand out for its super-slim design, with some reports estimating it would measure about 6mm thin. Not to be outdone by its primary competitor, Samsung was also rumored to be working on a slim flagship Galaxy phone.
At Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, California, the company showcased the device for the first time. Samsung provided no other details about the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Samsung’s slim flagship Galaxy will follow the same design language as other devices in the S25 lineup. It will feature iPhone-like flat, shiny sides. The main design difference is on the back, with the phone packing vertically stacked dual rear cameras. The oval-shaped camera island and the sensors protrude from the body, though they are not distracting.
Samsung’s thin phone could boast better camera than iPhone 17 Air
Apparently, Samsung will use a 200MP primary sensor, with the telephoto shooter offering 3.5x optical zoom.
The dual rear cameras should give the Galaxy S25 Edge a photographic advantage over Apple’s upcoming slim iPhone. Rumors indicate the iPhone 17 Air will come with a single 48MP primary shooter. Rumors suggest the slim phone will measure about 6.4mm thin, noticeably slimmer than the 8.2mm Galaxy S25 Ultra. The phone should launch in May and cost less than $1,300.
