Prime Target, a new conspiracy thriller series involving a math genius, an NSA agent and probably a whole lot of paranoia, begins streaming January 25, Apple TV+ said Thursday. The eight-episode series starring SAG Award winner Leo Woodall, Quintessa Swindell and Stephen Rea, among others. It comes to us from writer Steve Thompson (Sherlock, Vienna Blood).
Prime Target on Apple TV+: Conspiracy-thriller series about math airs January 25, 2025
The new show concerns a brilliant young math student whose research into prime numbers might yield access to everyone’s computers (seriously, like everyone on Earth). But soon enough he finds himself fighting an invisible enemy bent on destroying his work. And he ends up in league with everyone’s favorite shadowy government watcher, the National Security Agency (NSA). What could go wrong?
Here’s the streamer’s description of the show and its impressive cast:
Prime Target features a brilliant young math postgraduate, Edward Brooks (Woodall; The White Lotus, One Day), who is on the verge of a major breakthrough. If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he will hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon, he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a female NSA agent (Swindell; Black Adam, In Treatment) who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on mathematicians’ behavior. Together, they start to unravel the troubling conspiracy Edward is at the heart of.
The cast also includes Academy Award nominee and BAFTA Award winner Rea (The Crying Game), BAFTA Award nominee David Morrissey (Sherwood, The Walking Dead), Emmy Award winner Martha Plimpton (The Regime), BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen), SAG Award nominee Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), BAFTA Award nominee Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones), Ali Suliman (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Paradise Now), Fra Fee (Rebel Moon, Hawkeye) and Joseph Mydell (The Eternal Daughter).
Noted show creator and writer Thompson serves as executive producer on the show. It’s produced for Apple TV+ by New Regency with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions. Brady Hood (Top Boy, Great Expectations) directs all eight episodes.
