Apple has started accepting preorders for the M2 MacBook Air. The company took down its online store for a couple of hours to prepare for the new Air’s launch.
The new MacBook Air will be available in retail stores from July 15.
M2 MacBook Air is sleek and powerful
Announced at WWDC22, the new MacBook Air features a redesigned chassis with a bigger 13.6-inch Retina display and a camera notch. Despite the slightly bigger display, the new MacBook Air is just 11.3 millimeters thick and weighs 2.7 pounds.
The new M2 chip ticking inside the Air packs an 18% faster CPU, 35% more powerful GPU and 40% faster Neural Engine.
Despite the improved performance, Apple claims the new M2 Air can last up to 18 hours on a single charge. And thanks to the new MagSafe charging port, you can top it up to 50% in just 30 minutes. You will need to use a 67W power adapter for this, though. Apple only bundles a 30W power adapter with most configurations.
Configure M2 MacBook Air with up to 24GB RAM or 2TB storage
Prices for the M2 Air start from $1,199. That gets you the M2 chip, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. Bumping the RAM to 16GB and doubling the storage will cost you $200 each, bringing the total to $1,599. The maxed-out configuration with 24GB RAM and 2TB storage will cost you $2,499.
Apple will continue selling the M1 MacBook Air alongside the new model, so if you are on a tight budget, you can go for the older model.
COVID-19 lockdowns in China have greatly affected MacBooks’ delivery time. If you want to get your hands on the M2 Air at the earliest, get your order in as soon as preorders go live. If you have not already, make sure to go through our guide on how to get ready to preorder the M2 MacBook Air.
Get your order in early, and Apple should deliver the machine to you on launch day, i.e., July 15.
