A new mobile SSD called the PNY Pro Elite V3 holds terabytes of data and can transfer that data at up to 1,000MB/s. But perhaps its standout feature is price: the 2TB variant comes in at just $145.

PNY also just introduced two other speedy USB-C drives that top out at 256GB — but cost less than $25.

PNY Pro Elite V3: Fast and (relatively) cheap storage

The best thing to happen to flash drives is USB 3.2 Gen 2. Any SSDs that support this standard can move large files around quickly, whether that’s a multi-gigabyte video or a hefty collection of documents. The USB standard means computers can read data on the PNY Pro Elite V3 at up to 1,000MB/s and write data to the SSD at up to 800MB/s.

PNY says the drive was “crafted for professional content creators, designers, and gamers demanding high performance while working with large files and resource-demanding applications.”

USB-C means it’s compatible with all Macs, most iPads and many recent iPhones. It works on Windows and ChromeOS, too. That makes it well-suited for moving files between computers.

The PNY Pro Elite V3 launched Tuesday. As noted, the 2TB version comes in at $144.99. There are also 1TB, 512GB and 256GB versions.

For comparison, the 2TB Samsung T9 SSD costs $179.99 and is considerably bulkier.

New Elite-X Fit and Elite flash drives, too

In addition, PNY introduced two lower-capacity — and lower-priced — USB-C flash drives Tuesday, as noted previously.

The Elite-X Fit emphasizes small size, measuring only an inch long. Its read speed goes up to 200MB/s, and its write speed goes up to 100MB/s. The 256GB variant costs $24.99.

PNY’s new Elite USB-C flash drive emphasizes low pricing. The 256GB variant costs $17.99, but is not yet available.
