El Capitan users can now download the latest OS X 10.11.5 update from the Mac App Store. The release promises to improve stability and security, and it’s recommended for all users.
OS X 10.11.5 comes hot on the heels of iOS 9.3.2, watchOS 2.2.1 and iTunes 12.4 — which are all available to download right now. Apple doesn’t tell us specifically which bugs the update fixes, but it says the update “improves the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac.”
It’s still too early to tell whether this addresses the random freezes currently being experienced by some Retina MacBook Pro owners, which have been happening since OS X 10.11.4. If you’ve noticed any changes, let us know down in the comments.
This may not be a big OS X upgrade, but we’re expecting much bigger things from Apple at WWDC next month. According to recent rumors, the company will rebrand OS X to macOS, finally introduce Siri to the desktop, and make other big improvements.

Wonder if it fixes the shitty graphics performance on some models including the Mac Pro.
I am having poor battery life on my iPad Pro 9.7, so while no mention is made of that, I am hopeful this IOS update helps.
It always helps to check settings/battery and standby/usage time. Usually the iPad Pro has a great battery life.
Yep, I did that a few times; Sometimes Safari is doing it, sometimes an App called News360. I shut them down now. What is strange is how quickly it has been burning battery just in the bag and not in use. I can pull it off the charger, put it in my bag at 8am, leave and pull it out at 3 or 4 PM and I have lost 30-40%.
I kind of wonder if it is the attached keyboard; I am going to try it without the keyboard. This i is the first attached keyboard (non Bluetooth) I have had and thought it only drew power when in use.
But too make matters worse, the IOS update bricked the iPad Pro 9.7, seems like wide spread problem now.
10.11.5 has frozen my Parallels on my MacBook (not pro), which worked fine under 10.11.4
Sorry to hear that Alvin. I also have Parallels (Version 11.1.3 (32521)) and it was not affected when I updated my MacBook Air to 10.11.5.
But my iPad Pro 9,7 was bricked by the IOS update, had to get a replacement. :(
