Adventurers can once again enjoy Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, a dungeon crawler RPG with a 16-bit feel. Players battle their way through monsters on ever-changing levels.
Previously, the game by Cornfox & Brothers was included in Apple Arcade, but it’s been pulled out of Apple’s subscription gaming service and is now available to all for a flat fee.
Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon roguelike game playable on iPhone and iPad again
Role-playing games are a classic and very popular genre in which players level up their characters to be able to fight increasingly tough monsters. Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is part of a subset of roguelike games, harking back to a classic, in which a team of characters takes on a quest, and the player changes characters to meet various challenges.
In the returning title from Cornfox & Brothers, players become a Knight, a Huntress, a Mage or a Grandmaster. Each one wields different weapons and has its own strengths and weaknesses. Their goal is to explore the Chronos Dungeon to find the Paradigm Hourglass, an object powerful enough to alter the course of history. There are many monsters for fight, plus challenging bosses to conquer.
Because Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is divided into many levels, it’s well-suited to play on iPhone. A level can be completed in a few minutes of spare time — it doesn’t require hours.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game when it was part of Apple Arcade, and I’m thrilled that it is once again available. It’s a well-made light RPG with immense replayability. Be sure to read my review of it.
