If you’re a Mac Pro customer, you’ve been waiting a hella long time for an update at this point. The last revision to the Mac Pro line, after all, came out in July 2010, which in computer upgrade terms may as well be part of the Metazoic era.
So an update’s right around the corner, right? Don’t hold your breath. It’s looking extremely unlikely that the new Mac Pros will come out before early 2012 at the very earliest.
What’s the hold up? Intel. The Xeon class chips the Mac Pro uses are getting a bump to the Sandy Bridge architecture, which was meant to happen in mid-November. Due to an unexplained delay, though, the Xeon E5 chips are being pushed back at least one quarter.
When the new Mac Pros do drop, though, expect them to be fast. They’ll likely come in dual bridge configurations with between 12 and 16 cores.

Whatever!!!?!?!!?
I have a 2009 8 core. I just upgraded to 32g memory and a 512g SSD. I’m very happy with my ancient processors, thank you very much. That’s the whole reason I traded in my iMac for this one, expandability.
there are still people buying these? they are relics. Design very very old
Yes… WE still buy these. Check your research kiddo..
