Windows 10 hasn’t been the hit on mobile that Microsoft hoped it would be, but the company has a new plan to get iOS developers to bring their apps to Windows: poach them at WWDC.
Microsoft is hosting a special after party for iOS and OS X developers after Apple’s opening keynote on June 13th. The event is co-hosted by the software company Xamarin that is owned by Microsoft but makes tools for developers to make apps on iOS, Android and Windows.
The Microsoft after party will be located at Twitter HQ which is conviently located behind the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium where Apple’s keynote will be held.
While wining and dining developers with free drinks, food, robots and drones, Microsoft may also guage developers interest in using Azure cloud for backend of iOS apps. During the event the company says it will give away an Apple Watch Sport every hour as well as an Xbox One.
If you’re going to be in San Francisco for the event you can RSVP here.

It is a bit desperate, true. On the other hand, good for them. On yet another hand – I wonder how many developers will it actually attract and how many will be convinced to use MS services.
The thing that Microsoft needs to worry about the most is Linux users. There are more and more Windows users that are switching to Linux, because it runs on standard PC hardware. The only way Microsoft can really get iOS developers to develop for Windows mobile platform is for Microsoft to have more market share. Otherwise, it doesn’t make a lot of business sense to develop for a platform that doesn’t have enough demand.
More and more Windows users switching to Linux?
Thanks for the laugh. News Flash: Windows won.
Desperate times calls for desperate measures….
Die WIndows Phones, just die.
Whats the point of bringing developers to Windows Mobile – isn’t that platform on ice now.
It’s not about bringing iOS devs to Windows Mobile. It’s about cross platform, because that’s what Xamarin is all about. Also, it’s an opportunity for iPad app devs who are hungry to get into the Windows enterprise market.
