Apple will reportedly unveil the iPhone 17e on February 19, exactly a year after the iPhone 16e and less than two weeks from now. It will apparently announce the device through a press release, with no press event planned.
The refresh focus will seemingly focus on incremental upgrades rather than major design changes.
iPhone 17e is almost here
Apple announced the iPhone 16e in 2025 via a press release. So, it’s not surprising that it may take a similar approach with the iPhone 17e again this year.
Despite its budget price tag, the iPhone 16e was among the best-selling iPhones worldwide for Apple. With its successor this year, rumors point to the company building on the foundation, making minor upgrades to deliver a better experience.
Contrary to earlier rumors that the iPhone 17e would adopt the Dynamic Island, the Macwelt report says Apple will stick with the notch for another year on its budget iPhone.
Powered by the A19 chip, the phone should rely on Apple’s C1x modem for cellular connectivity. It is also expected to use the N1 chip to handle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
MagSafe may headline the iPhone 17e refresh
Alongside faster internals, the phone will also purportedly gain MagSafe support. This will enable faster 25W wireless charging and, more importantly, support for magnetic accessories.
Given the ongoing DRAM supply crunch and tariffs, Apple’s pricing plans remain uncertain. The company could keep the iPhone 17e at $599, matching its predecessor, or opt for a price increase.
Apple could open preorders for the iPhone 17e on the same day, i.e., on February 19. Retail availability may then begin a week later.
Before the iPhone 17e, though, Apple may announce the long-overdue M5 Pro and M5 Max-powered MacBook Pros.
