Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup will not feature a smaller Dynamic Island as previously rumored. The pill-shaped user interface’s size apparently will remain unchanged.

Apple ditched the notch and switched to the Dynamic Island with the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.

Dynamic Island may not shrink on this year’s iPhone

A rumor from early 2023 indicated that Apple could move to under-display Face ID technology to shrink the Dynamic Island in 2024. However, that did not happen with the iPhone 16 Pro.

In March 2023, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, predicted Apple would delay under-panel Face ID to 2025 or later due to sensor problems. Now, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo writes in a post on X that the Dynamic Island size will remain unchanged on the iPhone 17 series. This means that, at least from the front, Apple’s 2025 iPhone is unlikely to sport any major design changes. Apple might slim down the bezels, but that’s all.

The company might adopt a new Corning cover glass for the iPhone 17’s display with a “super-hard anti-reflective layer” and superior scratch resistance. But this won’t visually change the phone’s look from the front.

iPhone 17 could pack big rear design changes

While the front design of the iPhone 17 might remain unchanged, Apple might make significant tweaks to the device’s rear.

Rumors suggest Apple might switch to a “part-aluminum, part-glass design” design for the iPhone’s back, with a camera bar similar to the Google Pixel lineup at the top. Apple also could give up on the titanium body and switch to aluminum.
