Upgrading to a new version of iOS isn’t an easy task if you’ve got a device with 16GB or storage or less. Starting with iOS 9 though, Apple’s going to help you free up space by automatically deleting your apps. But don’t worry, it’ll put them right back after updates are done.

This is what the notification looks like if you don’t have enough space:

iOS 8 upgrades required over 4GB of free space in order to perform updates, which caused the adoption of the mobile operating system to lag behind iOS 7. With iOS 9, updates will only be about 1.3GB in size, but it can still be tough for many users to free up that much space, especially if they’re not syncing to iTunes to manage storage manually.

Apple revealed at WWDC that iOS 9 will require less free space to update now that devices don’t have to download and unpack software updates. There’s also new notification options for upgrades that let you update your device when you sleep or use it least.

Multitasking view now has scroll speed dependent on users finger movement. So when moving slowly, scroll is slow and one app at a time. If finger is moving fast – then apps flow faster.

Look we really need to step it up. 16 GB is not acceptable. Lets make 32 GB the base line. I know they like to charge $100 for $40 flash chips but cmon now. I am a iPhone and iPad user and I am not hating I am just kinda of disappointed how slow flash memory is progressing. I guess we need a break-though of some sort to make it cheaper and more reliable.

I’d be interested to see if data is included in that or just the app itself

Can you imagine Windows deleting your apps, to make space? Then it doesn’t put them back…

Wow – always one. You expect iOS to install its own update with no room on the phone? That’s why there’s a ‘Cancel’ button so you can manage the storage yourself. But for people who don’t understand (ahem) at least this will help them get an update.
Referring to your absurd comparison, try filling up your PC hard drive to the brim, then run Windows Update.
